Job Vacancies Inspection Report

Music plays an important part in the life of our pupils. Class music is taught by specialists from Nursery upwards, with an emphasis on singing, music appreciation, composition and performance. GCSE Music is a popular option choice. We have Infant, Junior and Senior Choirs, a Chamber Choir, Junior and Senior Orchestras and a Brass ensemble.

Individual tuition is available on a wide range of instruments and singing – over a third of our girls have individual lessons in School and are prepared for examinations in their chosen instruments. Choirs take part in the Fareham Festival each year and we hold concerts each term where girls throughout the School are encouraged to perform. Each year we perform a musical – last year the Junior School produced a musical version of Romeo and Juliet and this year the Senior School is putting on The Wiz.

DRAMA

School dramatic productions and less formal presentations take place for both Senior and Junior girls. Drama is taught as an extension to English lessons as well as in Speech and Drama lessons outside class. Girls are prepared for local festivals and examinations, where they meet with much success.

DANCE

Dance is offered both as an extra-curricular activity and as part of PE lessons – it has also been introduced as a GCSE subject, where it is proving popular. The photographs below were taken at our recent Dance Festival where we enjoyed a variety of dances from girls throughout he School.
