Barbeque at Wykeham House

The rain clouds finally dispersed on Thursday 1st May. Bath Lane was still too wet for our Barbeque and sponsored events to raise money for charity - so we decided to go ahead with our Barbeque in the playground and postponed our sponsored events until the better weather.

Wykeham House School is delighted to support the charity KIDS which is for the benefit of young carers in our community.

Gemma and her friends in J2 enjoy the lovely weather and some rather large ice creams!

Dream On

On 26th, 27th, 28th March, the pupils of Wykeham House performed "Dream On". The play is 'loosely' based on William Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream.

The girls put on a great show, which was enjoyed by the large audiences made up of the girls' families and Wykeham House staff.

The cast had great fun on stage!

New Uniform.

Mr Tim James, from ‘Schoolblazer’, gave a very informative presentation about the new school uniform to over 100 parents and girls on Thursday 28th February. If you were unable to attend the presentation you will be able to view his PowerPoint slides by clicking here.

The Junior Summer dress will soon be available for purchase so that girls in Forms J1 to J4 will be able to wear it from the start of the Summer Term. The dress should be worn with the existing jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt, blazer and boater.

Many other samples were available for viewing and the photograph on the right shows you some of the exciting new styles worn by our girls. The new kilt, jumper and blouse (short and long sleeved available) will be for all girls from J1 to Form IV. The Junior Blazer will be for girls up to J4 and the Senior Jacket (in green) for girls from Form I to Form IV. Girls will wear black tights in the winter and either black tights or white socks in the summer. All of these items, along with a windproof jacket and the boaters will be on sale in plenty of time for the start of the Autumn Term 2008.

The girls who modelled the new styles said that they were very comfortable and they looked forward to being able to wear them.

There will be a ‘changeover’ period of one year and all girls will be expected to be wearing the new styles by September 2009.

School blazer will also be selling all the present games kit and school bags but there will be no changeover time for these items, please just purchase new items of sportswear from ‘Schoolblazer’ as needed.

Independent Schools Inspection Report October 2007.

We are delighted that the high standards we achieve in all areas of school life have been recognised and acknowledged in our recent Inspection Report.

In reading the report, you should be aware that, in the judgements they make, inspectors have available to them four standards: outstanding, good, satisfactory and unsatisfactory. To receive a report such as this where every aspect of our work is rated at least 'good' and some aspects 'outstanding' is high praise indeed. The report is a testament to the hard work and commitment of all members of the school community.

As with all inspection reports, this one provides us with 'Next Steps', in which the inspection team recommend further developments in the work of the School. Over the next few months we will give consideration to those recommendations.
