Girls are given experiences to help them explore and investigate their environment both indoors and out. Trips to local
woodland in the autumn to collect conkers and leaves gives the children the opportunity to understand the world
around them by learning why leaves fall, what happens to the conkers and acorns, even which animals live in the
woods. The girls are guided to discuss important or significant experiences in their lives and are also made
aware of their own cultures and those of the people around them.
There are two timetabled information and communication technology (ICT) sessions each
week. In these lessons, the girls will either use a laptop computer or develop the skills needed to make a
remote control toy work. When using the laptops girls are taught how to follow simple programs which develop
and reinforce the other areas of learning and to teach them fine motor control through use of the mouse. The
girls are also encouraged to use tape recorders to listen to songs or stories, during free play.
